R II S Interview new young designer Stine Riis

Hello Dears

Today, I’m glad to interview Stine Riis, founder of R II S. After she graduated from London College of Fashion in 2011, her fame rose quickly. Stine won a lot of awards, like H&M Designer Awards in 2012 and the Briddle Sawyer Silk Award in June 2011.

Here’s the interview, enjoy it!

Question: What role does the leather and fur world play in your creations?

Answer: I really enjoy working with fur and leather, they are two materials that  just feel natural for me to work with. Fur is especially nice to work  with since its very 3D and you can create garments that make a woman  feel very stylish and warm at the same time, something I always try to  obtain in one garment: function & elegance.

Q: Which are the bases of your collections from now?

A: Every time I start a new collection I choose a new focus, but I guess I always get some inspiration from menswear tailoring and contemporary art. Also color always play an important role as well. Finding the exact right combination of color can just make my day!

Q: What kind of message do you want to convey to those who wear your creations?

A: I would like to portray my version of a modern women. A sophisticated, elegant and brave woman that is not afraid to be noticed for both her personality and looks. When I say looks, I’m not talking about beauty. Perfection can be boring, beauty in decay is much more interesting. I like women to dress so that they feel comfortable and that the clothes enhance their personalities.

Q: Tell me about your next steps in the fashion world.

A: I just launched a limited edition of my AW12 collection with Luisa Via Roma and in September my collection, made in collaboration with H&M,  will come out in H&M in 6 different countries (Great Britain, United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium and Norway).  At the moment I’m working on my Spring Summer 2013 collection, that I will present in August when I show it at Copenhagen Fashion Week.
