Jumpers trends autumn winter season 2015 – 2016

long sweater 2016

Jumpers, cardigans, sweaters, knitted shirts are the most popular clothes in the coldest of seasons. With their help we can shelter from the harsh winter whilst remaining elegant.

Today we can choose between many different colours and styles.  On the catwalks we have seen all types of jumpers: long and short, colorful or solid.

Let’s check out together what the autumn winter season 2015-2016 has in store for us. Those of you that follow fashion trends carefully will notice that as well as the long and short coats, jackets and cardigans presented for the new season, the fashion has also spread to tops, as the shows of Tibi, Vivienne Tam, Samuji, Mare and The Elder Statesman demonstrate, presenting mini tops or big jumpers matched with warm long or short skirts, or solid colored trousers.

LONG JUMPERS

As we know fashion can be contradictory, changeable and at times very different.

And this is precisely why you should not be surprised if amongst the myriad of mini tops you spot some very long ones too. Maxi jumpers, that can even go down below the knee and look more like a dress, are presented by brands like: The Row, Tome, Thakoon addition, RHIE, Rebecca Minkoff, The Elder Statesman, Adam Selman, Undercover, ADEAM.

Most designers believe that these garments go best with leggings, trousers, high boots. Another option is mid length jumpers over mid length skirts.

THE HIGH NECK JUMPER

The much loved polo neck has no plans to leave the cat walk. These jumpers are so practical and universal, suit every woman and can be worn in various ways.

APC, for example, puts a blue polo neck with dark blue jeans. Ralph Lauren matches the grey-brown jumper with an incredible and beautiful feather skirt and a pair of brown boots. Drien Van Notes, instead, matches a polo neck with an asymmetric skirt.

Jumpers with intricate decoration are the main fashion trends for “the cold”.

They can be worn in any style: Ulla Johnson, Ryan Roche, Tess Gilberson, Nina Ricci, SACA, Vera Wang presented them in their shows adapting them to every situation: casual, business, evening.

OVERSIZE JUMPERS

The oversize style is still keeping upits leading position in high fashion.

This trend is very popular. It’s impressive how they suit both slim and curvaceous women, because an XXL size hides body imperfections perfectly. Recently I did a post about OVERSIZE JUMPER

Admirers of oversize include Fischietti, Victor Alfaro, Vera Wang, DKNY, Ryan Roche, Valentino, Vertements and Tibi.

SLEEVLESS TOPS

Going sleeveless is once again the indisputable trend of the Autumn – winter 2015-2016 season.

Despite some objections of their impracticality for winter weather Rick Owens, Vionnet, Thakoon, Timo Weiland and many others keep including such models in their collections. And we can also say that this trend keeps on growing.

BARE SHOULDERS

While some designers have decided to take the sleeves off their jumpers others have decided to cut them low. For example Timo Weiland, Sportmax and other brands offer jumpers that leave female shoulders completely uncovered. The total lack of collar is made up for by the maxi length of both the garment itself and the sleeves.

ASYMMETRIC JUMPERS

Asymmetry is as necessary to modern fashion as is having a jumper in her wardrobe when it’s cold for a woman. Asymmetric lines are a real success story for fashion. With irregular hems or asymmetric inlays or with one sleeve missing, these are the tricks used by stylists to create for their works of art.

Also Stella McCartney, Vetements, Victoria Beckham and Victor Alfaro have subscribed this season.

JUMPERS AND FUR

Fur is the most famous material used for the coldest time of the year. You can make almost anything with fur: bags, jackets, coats, belts, socks, hats and even jewelry. So there’s no surprise if in the shows for  Autumn-Winter 2015-2016 you can find fur jumpers. If you don’t want  a jumper completely in fur, you can opt for jumpers decorated with fur. See the No21, Sally Lapointe, Balmain and Zac Posen collections. Do you remember the jumper in cachemire and fox fur I did for my collection?

CUTS, HOLES AND REMNANTS

All types of remnants can take the leading position in the Autumn-Winter 2015-2016 season.

And it doesn’t matter what kind of “hole” there is in your clothes: to be fashionable you just have to have them.

They can be laser punctures, woven elements, huge cuts in the back or seductive cuts in neckline. You can see examples in Louis Vuitton, Zadie e Voltaire, Zoe Giordano, Ryan Rocxhe, Mare  and in Tamara Mellors’ clothing lines.

MULTILAYERED

Another common trend that we can’t overlook is “multilayering”. That means that from now on you could look like a “cabbage”.

The trend of wearing several layers will certainly be adopted by those who like to feel warm.

To achieve this you can use tops of different weights, of the same colour and even clothes in different materials. Subscribers include Saca, Rosetta Getty, Tess Gilberson, Fischietti, 1205, Ryan Roche

DECORATIONS

Designers haven’t just thought of designs and styles. It seems they have decided for the Autumn-Winter 2015-2016 to make the most of their creative imagination.

To achieve this different types of decorations have been used: embroidery, sequins, fringes, pompoms, original sleeves, feather frills and even fur.

You can find all this in Tse, Sportmax,Sachin Babi, Suno, Stella Jean, Veronique Branquinho, Tods, Sass Dide and Takoon Addition,, Vionnet, SACA, Victoria Beckham, A Detacher and Ryan Roche collections.

EMBELLISHMENTS AND PRINTS

We also like the variety of embellishments and prints. The most famous has proved to be animal prints (Red Valentino, Emilio Pucci) and without doubt geometric lines (Suno, Valentino, Fausto Puglisi, Isabel Marant, Saint Laurent, Rick Owens, Paul and Joe, Richard Chai love Rebecca Minkoff, Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Red Label)

Want vertical or horizontal stripes? Ok! Want something more extravagent? There are abstract lines and complex geometrical shapes. Like stars? We have collections of tops with constellations or zodiac signs. And if you like predators you can opt for those with leopards or with zebras.

COLOURS

And finally let’s talk about colours.

Here the designers have given the opportunity to choose from an infinity of colours.

Todd and Vionnet have opted for pale pink, RHIE and Carven for shades of blue. Chanel Bordeaux and violet. DKNY offer jumpers in turquoise tones. See by Chloe and Tibi opt for pastel colours and achromatic shades. We can wear jumpers in yellow, red and raspberry tones.

As you can note the Autumn-Winter 2015-2016 season promises to be extremely hot and elegant.

Designers have supplied an enormous quantity of jumpers, cardigans and sweaters in the most varied of colours to allow an ample choice.
