Last Thursday a press conference celebrated the launch of wonderfurs.it, a brand new website whose aim is to put forward Italian Fur producers and designers. Roberto Scarpella, the President of the Italian Fur Trade Association, and the editors of Pizza Digitale (an Italian online magazine) were present to explain the idea and the aims behind the project.
Wonderfurs.it aims to breach the gap between young people and the world of fur, by renewing the image of fur and the way it is worn. Pages dedicated to fur designers, the latest fur pieces on the runways and celebrities caught on camera wearing will be featured at the heart of the website. A special section of the website will be dedicated to newly graduated fashion students who work with fur.
The Italian Fur Trade Association and Pizza Digitale want to involve the younger generations in a world that is usually considered out of reach, partly for financial reasons. Wonderfurs.it aims to disprove this. Getting a young team of bloggers, writers and stylists involved in this project is essential, explained Roberto Scarpella. The first step to getting the blogosphere involved will be a competition in which bloggers will be asked to style a shoot with a vintage fur coat for the website. The winner will be involved in the next Mifur. Watch this space, start taking pictures!
